I know mfp has a default, but I'd like to customize it but I don't know where to look. Can anyone point me to a website or something that will help me see how many of each nutrient i need? And what is it based on? Age, gender, build, exercise?

I'm 5'8 with a small/medium frame, 141 lbs. I run 16-20 miles/week and strength train for about 3 hours per week.

  • I found the Mayo Clinic website extremely helpful:

Healthy diet: End the guesswork with these nutrition guidelines
    http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/healthy-diet/NU00200

The website also includes articles and more information on special diets based on your health concerns (heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol).

I believe your daily needs are based on a percentage of your daily calorie needs. And that is calculated based on your height, weight, age and how active you are.

But as always, it's a best bet to check with your doctor.
