I'm 47 years old and never ate a garbonzo bean. Something about the name I think. Then someone told me they were also called chick peas, so I tried some. Mm mm good. Now I eat them every day. Does anyone have any easy chick pea recipes? What about a food that you want eat because of the name?

  • I make my own homemade garlic hummus from garbonzo beans. Good stuff and in moderation it won't blow your diet.

I dont have exact measurements for this soup but its soooo good I thought Id share.
About 1 cup cooked and shredded chicken
about 3 or 4 carrots peeled and cut
1 can drained reduced sodium garbonzo beans
2 or 3 cloves garlic minced
2 cans reduced sodium chicken broth
1 can either diced tomatoes or 1 can tomato sauce
    dried basil...to taste
After its boiled and ready you serve on top of a handful of spinach and enjoy!

Hummus is made from garbonzo beans and you can either make your own or buy it but its so good as a veggie dip or pita bread dip. I spread it on meat sandwiches too. I used to hate beans till I tried these ones!

And you can add pasta to the soup
  • ooh thanks for reminding me. this is how i make em for a yummy snack

    1 can rinsed

    put in plastic bag

    add in olive oil (1tbs)
add in as much chili powder as you like
    shake, shake, shake

bake them at 350 degrees for as long as it takes your oven to make them crunchy. i like mine well done, but you might not. they definitley need to be dried out tho.

    and voila!

i ahvent made them in so long that i dont know the calorie count but that's easy enough to figure out.

It's really really easy to make if you have a food processor!
