Weight loss target goal and strategy when you get close to t

Ok, I could use some advice. I started In October last year 194lb, BMI of 28, got down to 159lb, BMI of 23, and body fat of around 17-17.5%, measured with a scale, so I am not sure how accurate this is. My doctor told me in October that I was prediabetic. Reading up on it, aiming for the lower range of the BMI, something like 20 is the best that you can do. But I can stop around 23 too, not sure what to do.

Question, how do you choose your target weight or BMI? What are you aiming for and what do you base this on? Healthy range is clearly good, but what actual number do you choose? And do you base this on BMI or weight, and why? I can’t find much info on this.

Second question. My weight loss was a straight line down from BMI of 28 to 23, with about 1-2 lb lost per week. However, about a month ago I reached a BMI of 23 and have no weight lost since with the same diet and calorie intake. I do have to say, the weather warmed up here in the Midwest of the US, so I started biking to work, ½ hour each way, so I am probably getting more muscle. But I do not find much information on the web on how to lower your weight when you get close to your goal. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice?

Thanks.

There was a good discussion on an earlier post that dealt with people close to goal weight - and how to reach those last lbs off.

I'm not nearly there yet, so can't give you any advice. I just picked a goal weight based on the upper range of my "normal" weight - so don't know if there is a method or good way to make that decision - You might try messaging some of the regulars here to get some advice... Shboss1673 ??
