So kind of a random topic, but I am just curious on how much you guys spend on food shopping. How often do you go? For how many people? & where?

I go to Kroger once a week, usually on a Sunday morning and spend around 30-50 dollars for just me, depending on how much I need to restock :)

A weekly shopping trip to Super Wal Mart usually runs around 170-200 per week for our family of 6. That includes just about everything including diapers for two toddlers that I am attempting to potty train. I feel like my selections of healthier food has increased the overall bill a bit, but I think it is worth it. Just to add, we homeschool so I am feeding all four children 3 meals a day, that adds up a bit.

It's just me, and I am going maybe every 7-10 days. It's always to restock my vegy's & fruit. I purchase meat in bulk when it's on sale & use my FoodSaver to put in individual packages. I find that is the one way I will not eat way out of my portions! Depending on how much meat, my bill has been about $30-50. More then I used to spend, but I find I'm not throwing things away like I used to. I'm laid off, so money is tight. Can't be wasting!
  • For my husband and I, it's generally about 250.00 a month. We buy EVERYTHING which Is going to change because I'm eating healthy so in turn he will be too. Grocery shopping for us though, includes personal items and pet supplies, so I guess you can say about 150.00 on food it's self.

I spend 50-70 every 2 weeks for me and my boyfriend and probably pick up another 10 dollars worth of odds and ends throughout the week.

I shop for my family of 4. Myself, husband, teen, and preschooler. When I stick to my list, the grocery bill is under $100 per week. Hardly any processed food, but not so many fresh veggies either. Frozen tends to be kinder to the pocket book. I also buy in bulk for things that tend to be expensive, like shredded cheese. And for items I'd like to get but don't need, I get only if they are on sale. And since my little one loves apples, I pay a bit more for organic so there's no pesticides in the skin.

I shop for a family of 3, 2 adults one preschool aged child. We try to eat very healthy, saying this we spend around $100 a week on groceries, I usually go to Martins for meat and sales, and meijer for the rest. Living healthy is rather expensive, but definitely worth the money. I have been doing the low carb south beach diet and that has also added to expenses, light cheese is expensive, nuts are expensive, boneless skinless chicken etc. When will it end? America wants everyone to be thin but when it comes at an expense how can everyone? I'm thankful I am in a position to shop healthy for my family.

I keep a stock of grains, legumes, frozen fruits and vegetables, some canned fruits and soups, enough for 5 or 6 months. I even keep some frozen bread. I shop for fresh fruits and vegetables once a week and spend about $40 for 4 of us. I go to our locan grocery store in the winter and the farmers in the summer.

I go to either Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Sprouts Farmer's Market, or my local farmers market 2-3 times a week, and I spend about $100/week for me, not including alcohol. I'm big on organic and local stuff.

I go once a week @ approx $50-80 per week for me and my BF. That include all my edibles including wine :)
I shop at local family grocery store here, Johnnie's Foodmaster.

My last bill was 61$, that was about 3 weeks ago. Since then I've bought maybe 12 gallons of milk, and 3 gallons of Orange juice, and the occasional veggie when needed.

I do most of my meat 'shopping' September through December, and my fish 'shopping' starts today. That saves me a fortune.

After reading people's posts, I'm wondering why I spend so much money on groceries.

Most of the time I will plan a whole week's worth of meals so I can just go once a week. Typically $80 and $120 is spent for DH and I. That includes dinners for both of us, household items and my lunches and snacks for the week. I'll go to the Super WalMart first to get the household stuff and any dry goods (canned soup/veg, cereal, etc) then head to Hannaford for meats and produce.

preaching to the choir sister! for this latest trip to the grocery store i was specifically looking for low/reduced sodium items. they've put in less or no salt and charge more for it!!

I'd say around $75/week for me and my bf...and that's with careful planning, we used to spend much more. We also do not buy everything organic, if we did our grocery bill would be 2-3 times that amount (I know this because we did a1 month organic challenge to see whether we could eat mostly organic on the same budget, we couldn't).
