does anyone hula hoop on here??

Options
hey everyone..
I'm thinking about getting a hula hoop that's slightly weighted to try and work on my stomach/midriff area in particular as that unfortunately is where I store most of my excess baggage!

does anyone have one and how has it helped?

ta in advance!

YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!! You can get really good, throw it in the air, do tricks, and make it really fun!!
If you have a dog or something, go to the park and hoop it up! Walk and hoop (takes practice). but it's actually not as easy as it seems! Great idea!

I have Hoop Body by Marisa Tomei. It's put out by the GAIAM company. I haven't done it consistently enough to see any results, but I do enjoy it!! It comes with a DVD but I never knew how to hula hoop so instead of following along with the video, I just turned up some music and practiced. I will say it helps with my hip/lower back pain. And I'm sure I would see results if I did it on a regular basis.

I sure do. :) I hoop dance actually. For you to lose any weight, you would have to do it for up to eight hours a week.
Hoop dance burns about 210 every thirty minutes. It contains a lot more moves besides hopping at the waist, but it is more fun and kind of a challenge to learn the tricks. Check out my videos on you tube:

LOL I don't blame ya! My poly was through Superhooper.org. Lara is a sweetheart and a half (and has layaway, woot!) and her hubby's vids taught me isolations. :D Gotta love the hooping community!!

BIG TIME want!! I'm trying to find out how much the colors are because I do have access to a pop rivet gun. I'd love to make a bunch of poly hoops to play with. Thank goodness she has good prices though eh?

You know, I love the polypro but I have been going back to my old black tubing hoops to learn new tricks and try to even out my flow a bit. lately I have been working on the horizontal elbow pass and the doll thing they had on hooping.org. Oh and I'm trying to nail the vertical shoulder duck out...there are no tutorials though so I am just kind of winging it. I finally got the behind the back elbow pass....and did it with fire last weekend for the first time!! ya! :)

When I was going to Curves they had weighted hula hoops with ridges on the inside of them. Hurt like hell for the first week or so, but it definitely worked the core muscles! Other ladies there claimed the ridges helped break up the fat on your stomach by its massage-like effect. Not sure if there's any truth to that, but it was a lot of fun!
