As most of you know I had my tummy tuck on wednesday. Well my problem now is getting all of my calories. For one thing I all am swollen and bloated so that already makes you feel full. Then when I do eat I can only eat a portion of food about the size of my palm (half a sandwich, a pudding cup, that size) and I feel like i'm gonna explode. Also i can't have anything fatty or "binding" like cheese or peanut butter so that rules out all of the high calorie foods.. My surgeon said that it is important to get enough calories b/c your body uses alot of energy to heal. I also have to wear this compression garment 24/7 that squishes me and makes me feel like someone is sitting on my chest, and i have to wear it for 6 weeks. I guess that I just wanted to vent. Thanks for listening and if you guys have any suggestions please let me know.

That sounds really frustrating!! Perhaps if you met with a dietician they would have some good ideas for you?

So how is the healing going? I'm starting to wonder whether I'll end up having the same procedure - my skin is already looking saggy with just 18lbs lost!...

Yuck, sounds like you're having a really tough time of it Amber! I wish I HAD suggestions for you, but, I don't. Right away I thought of my favorite thing in life that's good and fattening, icecream! But, you can't have the fat, so that rules that out!
I just wanted you to know that I feel bad for you, and hope you start feeling better real soon!

Would fruit drinks help? I steer clear and eat fresh fruit b/c of the calories. Tough situation! Good luck and hope you have a speedy recovery!

Well the healing part is going fine and I actually feel great i'm only worried about going into starvation mode b/c I always feel full without eating. I might try protein powder smothies. those are very calorie dense. I just had to be on an all liquid diet for 3 days before my surgery so I am kinda smoothied out. I am still very happy that I did it and I know in few weeks it will all be worth it and I can get back to the gym and all will be well. I am counting the days till I can get back to the gym. I miss it sooooo much. It's like taking a crack pipe away from a crackhead.!!!!!!!

It sounds like you need to eat a little bit many times through out the day to not "offend" your system and still get your calorie intake. Check with your doctor about this and also check with a dietician as suggested earlier. Good Luck and heal quickly.
