What I have Learned so Far...

1) You have to start somewhere. Start telling yourself YES I CAN. If you’re just starting out, look yourself in the eye in the mirror and say I CAN DO THIS.

2) It doesn’t matter if you need to lose 10 lbs or 300. It all starts with making one good choice and staying away from bad ones. As you make more good choices, it gets easier and becomes routine.

3) Do not be intimidated. Your life is YOUR journey, and NO ONE has the right to make you feel ashamed. If they try, that says a whole lot more about them than it does about you. Don’t let anyone steal your joy.

4) Don’t be embarrassed about going to the gym. 99.9% of people will think it’s great that you are there. It’s a HEALTH club, and we are there to get HEALTHY.

5) It is perfectly OKAY to indulge yourself once in a while. I like real butter on my toast once a week. I like a full sugar soda once in a while. I like the occasional dessert. I’ll eat Doritos too. You can and WILL find the balance between sensibility, moderation, and a well-deserved treat.

6) Don’t be afraid to reach out for support. I’ve only been here a short time, and I’m overwhelmed by the public and private support from people on this site. I’m here if anyone wants a friend. Others are too.

Thanks for sharing! Those are great tips, I especially number 2. I thought losing weight and changing to a healthier lifestyle was going to be super hard, but taking it slow, by making one good decision at a time, has made it much easier to stick with!

    Great post!
