Today is not a good day. Anyone with extreme will-power and motivation out there want to boost my self-esteem?? lol.
I can never make it past 10 pounds. 145 is the lowest I've gotten before gaining it right back. How can I make it past 10 pounds and keep it off?? I'm good for 2 weeks at a time and then fall right back into my old habits. HELP! (my ticker is not correct anymore, but I can't bear to add the pounds back on yet again...)

If you are losing 10 pounds in just 2 weeks, you are dieting too hard and losing too fast, so it must be difficult to maintain motivation and health. Aim to lose no more than 2 pounds per week (many recommend no more than 1) and get into the mind set to be in it for the long haul.

If you gain 10 pounds in two weeks, there is no way, you are losing the weight correctly or you are really falling off the wagon and eating fast food 3 times a day, or I'm not sure. but losing or gaining 10 pounds in 2 weeks is unhealthy. What is your methods?

I should correct myself...I don't lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks...usually like 2 months. It's a very slow process of losing weight because of the fact that I only stay good for 2 weeks and then fall off the wagon, gain a few back, start being good again, lose a few, and so on.....
  • What helps me stay on track is keeping something fun planned for the furture that I would want to look really good for. Example- I will make reservations at a fancy place that requires me to dress up for 3 weeks out. That way for three weeks I am really good and follow my calorie recommendations, then, when I go out to eat I look great and also I get one night of fantastic splurging. After that night I get back on track and plan something else for a few weeks out (girls day at the beach, weekend trip out of town, drinks with old highschool friends..ect.) It helps me stay on track and also gives me the satisfaction when i complete my goals.

Have you noticed that after you lose the pounds you get too excited and maybe sabatoge yourself? That's the problem I'm having. I lost 7 pounds (not even 10) and got very happy and started giving myself "gifts" like a cookie or ice cream or an extra slice of pizza. My calorie count has been high for the past week or so, but I'm starting to get back on track. That's my thought... I hope you work it out. Good luck!

Just the fact you are here and reaching out is a very positive sign. Try to stay focused on what your goal is. Think about the good things that will come to you when you achieve your goal. Don't let setbacks get you down; just pick up where you left off and keep trying. If one thing doesn't work for you, try something else. To solve any problem, sometimes it is best to break the problem down into small chunks and go after it a little chunk at a time. If not sticking to the diet (not being "good") is the problem, then try to tackle a little bit of it first...say, one meal a day. Try making at least one meal a day the "good" meal. Really think about it and do the work...plan it, and when it comes down to eating, do it slowly and with no distractions. The biggest thing I have done for myself since I have started on this journey is to take it slow and eat as often as I can in complete silence, no TV, no computers and nothing else to distract me from thinking about each bite and enjoying it thoroughly. So concentrate on one meal at a time, and choose the healthiest, highest quality fuel you can. Then build on that. The less packaged and "refined" it is the better. Go for whole foods, the good stuff, and your body, mind and spirit will appreciate it. Guaranteed!

Firstly, I strongly urge you to learn to love your body AS IT IS!! This is crucial to self esteem. Your body is not the enemy.

Your thinking patterns and habits are what cause your body to lose and gain weight.

Your body is simply the slave to your thoughts and habitual actions. That said, if you truly want to permanently change your body, then you first need to start by changing your thoughts and actions.

What are your reasons for wanting to lose weight and how strong are these reasons? Do they have life-altering implications? Is your life in jeopardy if you don't make changes? Or is your desire based on the fact that you hate your current figure because it's not as sleek and slim as other female counter parts?

Do you constantly diet? When you diet, do you deprive yourself of your favorite foods and have a long list of forbidden foods? Or, do you have healthier options and alternatives to the foods you love?

The subtle difference between depriving yourself of your favorite forbidden foods and having healthier options and alternatives oftentimes results in permanent weight loss.

It sounds like you need to start making small permanent dietary and exercise changes that you can live with long-term.

Most importantly, it sounds like you get frustrated and give up prematurely because you've realized it's a lot of hard work to lose and maintain weight loss, and right now you aren't ready for that. My only question is, why not? Why aren't you ready? What's stopping you from having what you want? I mean really ... what is REALLY stopping you from having what you want?

I totally get excited over a couple pounds, and then sure enough, they come back!! I've stopped weighing myself for a month...hope that helps!

This has really shown me a bigger picture of myself, as I am right now in the same boat as most of the other ladies and gents that have posted here. I feel like I have lost all motivation this week, and am searching for ways to get it back. This has reminded me that i am doing this for MYSELF and no one else. I am eating healthier foods for MY body not anyone else's. I am exercising to improve MY fitness and health. I am doing this for MY future and for MY self-esteem. Tomorrow is another day, and another week. I can continue to set goals and achieve the results that I want. If I want to remove some of the excess fat from my body, why don't I continue on this path? I waste so much time complaining about losing this fat, so I just need to keep cracking down so that I can lose it. For good, and for health.

Ah - now I understand. It is hard once you lose motivation. Keep logging your food even on your bad days and don't give up the diet just because you had a bad day, or give up on the day just because you indulged in one thing that might put you over.
