Vegan Chicken Nuggets?

OK, my wife watched the Ellen show a few days ago and they showed a family that switched to a vegan diet. So, she thought it would be a good experiment to try some of the food. One of the things she brought home was the Vegan buffalo wings. I took one look at the ingredients and thought "there sure is a lot of stuff in these things"! sure, the calories are low, and the cholesterol is non-existent, but the sodium was very high!! Really... these are supposed to be healthier for you? I mean, I have read more than once that the more ingredients in a product, you should avoid them.So if that is the case, .......
Now keep in mind, that before I tried them I had no misgivings that this would even remotely taste like a real chicken nugget. We were just thinking it would be a good experiment. I mean, what if they turned out to be pretty decent?
The final analysis can be summed up in one three letter word = S.U.X.!
Sorry guys, I just cant do it. I have nothing against anyone that can make that choice and become vegan. I envy you, I really do. But I think I will stick with real chicken. I will just make better choices in how I prepare my chicken.

Its all good, most vegans and vegetarians I know aren't interested in chicken or anything thats meant to taste like it anyways. A lot of "meat substitutes" are actually marketed towards people like you and your wife simply looking to try out alternatives.0

I agree that stuff does suck and contains a lot of sodium and even the Boca stuff only has like onions and mushrooms in it...not much for a substitute if you ask me.
Ill stick with raw and non processed thank you very much lol
Hey tho total props for at least trying it!!0 -
I agree. If you want a veggie burger, have a veggie burger. But don't try and add 10 additives to try to turn it into a veggie burger that is supposed to pass for meat. How much "healthier" is it than to just eat a real meat burger? It's sooooo important to read labels.0

Meat substitutes can be very unhealthy, actually. What brand of nuggets did you try? I actually love morningstar.
Better than CHICKEN chicken nuggets.
Yeah, I said it.
Anyway, vegan doesn't always equate with healthy, there are plenty of things out there high in sodium and empty calories, just like any other diet. Ultimately the best nutrition tip is always to learn what's on the back of the box.0 -
