About 2 1/2 months ago my son and I signed up for the 5k run up Grandfather Mountain in N.C. Years ago I had told myself that when I turned 40yrs old I was going to try it. Well knowing that I could not run the race very effectively at 224lbs I decided to go on a diet. Since I started the diet 2 months ago I have lost 24lbs. I joined MFP about 2 weeks ago and have lost 6lbs using this program. I still have another 20lbs to lose to reach my goal. The wonderful advice on diet and excercise has really helped. I just wanted to take time to thank everyone on this site for the helpful info and encouragement you provide everyday.

Sounds great my son and I run with a group of about 6 people of all different skill levels (from brisk walking to oh my gosh running) we generally go for 1 hr and then meet back at our vehicles. The group has been very encouraging to me. My son and I usually go for runs approx. 2-3 times per week. If anything this site has shown that exercise is the staple for weight loss and encouragement from others only makes the journey that much easier.
