What's the Best Protien Powder or Shake?

Getting ready to start the Insanity workout, and I know I'm going to need to kick up my calorie intake. I would like to use a protien powder or some other product that is high calorie but healthy. Does anybody have any Suggestions? Thanks.

Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey. By far the best protein I've ever tried.

Are any flavors better than others? Heard TONS of good things about this one, going to give it a try and order some tonight.

I like Sun Warrior protein powder, I use vanilla. It's vegan protein and it tastes great. Good luck!

I would highly recommend staying away from most protein powders. According to an independent study by Consumer Reports, many whey protein powders contain various amounts of heavy metals, including arsenic. Some samples even exceeded the U.S. Pharmacopeia recommendations for safety.

    Here's a link to their article: http://news.consumerreports.org/safety/2010/06/consumer-reports-protein-drink-investigation-.html

Just doing some preliminary research, Mercola claims that their protein powders are either free from toxic heavy metals or insignificant levels of heavy metals. Of course, buyer beware; the health supplement industry is not highly regulated so they can say anything they want.

I don't know much about the safety of other protein sources, such as hemp protein or brown rice protein supplements.

Personally, I recommend getting most of your protein from "natural" sources, like lean meats (chicken) and dairy. One way I like to supplement my protein intake is by making a simple yogurt smoothie. I found that Chobani yogurt has about 22g of protein per serving! I put a little bit of milk in my blender, add a cup of the Chobani yogurt and some frozen fruit (I like mango and pineapple), and blend. It's very good, but you might want to chew a piece of gum afterwards. The aftertaste is... interesting.

    Hope this helps!

I like the strawberry flavor myself, but I've also found the chocolate, mint chocolate, vanilla and to be very tasty as well.

Here's a fantastic read as a response to the entire "protein powder is dangerous" Consumer Reports article:

My favorite is the Double Chocolate and I agree that it is the best protein powder I have ever tried. Tastes ALMOST like chocolate milk.
