Zoloft vs Welbutrin
Hi! I searched the forum for an answer to this, but couldn't find anything. I switched from zoloft 100mg to welbutrin 300mg a month ago, and really....I'm more depressed with the welbutrin than with the zoloft. I was working out this morning and almost in tears for absolutely no reason!
I was just wondering if anyone is using welbutrin and what your mg amount is (if you're willing to share), and if you feel it's working.
Thanks!

I AM NOT A DOCTOR, BUT HAVE BEEN ON BOTH. I TOOK MYSELF OFF BOTH OF THEM AROUND DECEMBER. I CAN'T THINK CLEARLY ON THEM, BUT WHEN I WASN 150 WELBUTRIN, IT HELPED, I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY UPPED IT. I OCCASIONALLY TAKE ADAVAN AS NEEDED, I PREFER THAT. HOPE THAT HELPS. GOOD LUCK.0

I have taken Zoloft and Wellbutrin. Zoloft didn't really do much for me, so I am now on Wellbutrin, 300 mg/day. I prefer Wellbutrin cause it seems to help me. Everyone is different though, what works for me may not work for the next person. Why did you go off of the Zoloft? Was that working for you? If neither work, then you should talk to you doctor again about another option. Although, maybe you could give the Wellbutrin a couple more weeks to see if it kicks in at all.
I hope you find what works for you!0 -
I take 300 mg a day and mine is working beautifully If it's not working darling it's just not working for you. Good luck0

I have used both...and neither worked well for me. I ended up doing much better on a different drug which is made much differently. I would highly recommend giving it a few more weeks and if you don't notice improvement, to go back to your doctor. Everyone reacts differently and not one drug is good for everyone so it's ok if you need to try a few different ones. It took me a few years to find what worked best for my needs and I couldn't be happier! Good luck!0

Thanks all for the updates! I switched about a month ago and really liked Zoloft before (it just KILLED my sex drive And now I'm on welbutrin and it doesn't seem to be working as well for me. I made an appt to go back this Thursday, I was just wondering what everyone thought of welbutrin and zoloft.

I hated Zoloft. It made me manic, for starters, but after that it just made me feel tired and nauseous and generally crappy all the time and killed my sex life. I was taking it with lithium for a while and I think it caused me to gain a little weight (hard to tell since I also sleep a lot when I'm depressed and eat a lot of junk), but when I stopped both of them I didn't feel sick anymore and lost about 10+ pounds over the summer. My psychiatrist put me on wellbutrin XL instead (current dose 300mg) and I really like it. I have much more energy, I lost some weight and it didn't make me dizzy. It took A LOT of trial and error to find the right meds combination that was effective and didn't have side effects that left me feeling worse. I think the recommended dose for Wellbutrin is 300mg and the max. is 450mg; I don't know what you're taking but if you're working up to a therapeutic dose then it might take weeks to see an improvement.
It's all very frustrating, isn't it!0
