Dehydration

So recently I started noticing that the pads of my fingers are prune-y (like when swimming or bathing) all the time. I asked my hubby (he's a nurse) about it and he said it's cuz I'm dehydrated. Which doesn't make sense to me!! Here's why I don't get it...

1) Our skin absorbs some moisture, so why would fingers and toes get prune-y when immersed in water?

2) I've always been a slow drinker, of anything. (Hubby can probably count on both hands the number of times he's seen me drunk in 19 years!) I used to drink only soda, iced tea or juice and could milk a 12-ounce serving for hours and I only peed 3 times a day. I've stopped drinking everything except water and am forcing 6-8 glasses a day into myself and am peeing constantly (even getting up 1 or 2 times in middle of night).

So, I'm drinking and peeing more than I ever have in my life, but I'm dehydrated?

You should really ask your doctor and do some research in Dermatology. The watery "bathtub" wrinkles are totally different than if your fingers are wrinkled when dry. Usually if it's dehydration that would be resolved by your recent water intake. Medication can play a factor. You may want to have a routine blood work up or meet with your doctor so that the wrinkling is not a warning sign for other health issues.

Water and tea is great to drink. It's good you cut out the soda because they are not good to replenish your body with at all. As far as the amount of peeing you do that will range greatly depending on how much you are sweating. The important thing is that your pee be light in color, and clear not cloudy.
