I am wondering what your experiences are with pilates exercise. It claims to "reshape" your body- does it? What changes/improvements have you seen in your physique? Thanks to all the posters!

I'd like to know too before I make an investment in this 4500 Pilates machine I am looking to purchase. My other question is do they fold up at all?

I grew an inch taller from teaching Pilates. Technically, I didn't "grow" I just elongated my spine enough to measure taller from all the stretching. It also really helped with my pain from 2 herniated discs, scoliosis (which isn't as bad anymore), and arthritis. I really need to start doing it more often now that I'm not teaching it regularly.

I did Pilates without a machine after my first son 8 years ago and shaped up pretty fast...of course I was only 22 then! The workouts were harder than I thought. It was a good burn, the kind that you know is really working! I'm still searching for my old DVDs...

I took a class last night and today I definitely feel sore in the areas we worked.

Thank you all for the encouraging feedback on the pilates. Tonya that is great to hear because I broke my back when I was a teenager and have suffered in pain ever since so it sounds like it would be a great investment for me.
