I am so frustrated. I keep getting chest pains. I've been to the doctors twice, I've had 2 ekg's which came back normal, and an xray that also came back normal but am waiting to be sceduled for an ecocardiograph or whatever. I'm scared to work out because I dont want to like drop dead. Ugh this really sucks. I dont know what to do

I wish I had some sterling advice on what to explore here, but I don't.

I'm sorry you are going through this as it must be quite frightening in addition to being frustrating!

As far as weight loss goes, it's mainly down to your diet. Exercise is a very small portion of the weight loss equation, so try not to trouble yourself too much about the break you are rather sensibly taking from exercise!

I hope you get some answers soon.

hang in there. there is so many things that they have to rule out that it is rarely a quick process. next time you are at your doctors ask him about your activity level and what you can do safely while waiting for results. also keep aspirin with you always since it is credited with being the single most life saving drug when heart attacks are present. If it is angina once you are diagnosed you will receive nitro which you will take when you are having a spasm and it will relax the vessel and make the pain go away. Good luck and it is ok to cry when you have something serious and confusing going on. I know the diagnosis process is very frustrating.

Years ago, my husband found out he had an arythmia but it took two months of wearing a heart monitor for them to discover it! So stay calm, sometimes it takes a while for them to find out what's wrong.

    Good luck!

Don't do anything until you're cleared by your doctor. I went to the doctor recently for chest pains and it turned out to be panic attacks? I stopped working out for about 3 months before I re-adjusted my schedule so it wasn't so jam packed and so far so good. Keep logging your food, but don't strain yourself with exercise until you get the OK. Just my opinion. Your health is important. :flowerforyou:
  • Heartburn can manifest itself as chest pain. Try taking some antacids. Hope you feel better! :(

  • I had the same thing happen to me 2 years ago. It was soooo scary. Ended up in the emergency 6-7 times. Had every test under the sun. They found nothing. In the end they decided it was anxiety and treated me for that and now I feel great. I had had anxety before and the symptoms were very diffrent so I didn't believe that it was anxiety. But after being treat for it and 1 year with no symptoms convinced me that is what it was. Hope you find out what is going on. I know how scary and frustrating it is not knowing. Stay positive!!!

Tell the doctor to do a full bloodwork test. I had chest pain as a sympton when my gallbladder was failing. The bloodwork showed something off with my pancreas, which then led to the testing for my gallbladder. I can't believe your doctor hasn't ran any bloodwork. That is the first thing my doc does anytime I think there's something wrong with me!

Do you have any other symptoms? Is the chest pain worse during or after your workouts?

Stay calm girl. Get ahold of the doctor again and tell them you're still having pains and that you want more testing. Maybe ask friends and family if they can recommend a good doctor for you, too, if this one isn't helping you.

And, what do your chest pains feel like? Sharp, dull, sudden, constant, radiating or isolated? Pain anywhere else like your shoulders/back, stomach?

Could be costochondritis. Mimics true chest pain. http://www.emedicinehealth.com/costochondritis/article_em.htm

I worked cardiology and ER for awhile and have seen it it a lot. Something I learned working cardiology, if something you do causes the pain to get worse or subside, then it most likely isn't cardiac. Like moving your arms up, laying down, pushing the area, taking a deep breath or holding your breath or some other movement makes it worse or better then its not cardiac. Still it is good you are getting an evaluation. I would say it's probably muscular but occasionally an EKG will miss a heart condition. Also this condition cannot be identified in an Xray. Good luck to you.

This happened to me several years ago. Pains with tests coming up fine. Had nothing to do with my horrible, horrible relationship at the time . . . :-"

    ^^^That!!

I had major panic attacks a few years ago, that came with tightening in the chest, inability to breathe and pain. But, until you know for sure, I wouldn't over exert myself at all. But, I bet you could do low impact things so you don't get too frustrated (lifting small hand weights while seated, etc..) :flowerforyou:
  • I vote anxiety. I have it too, and sometimes it's just hard to breathe. Talk to your doctor about that possibility.
