Hi,
Ive read loads of conflicting things about how much you should eat etc, and the best things to eat if you are trying to lose weight. Everyone says you need to eat before you can lose weight, but how do you know how much you should be eating. Im 5"3 and 118pounds, but Id like to lose 6.
Any advice?

You should eat the amount of calories that MFP tells you to based on the questions your answered at the beginning.Technically, it doesn't matter what you eat as long as you stay within your calorie goals but try to eat healthier, well balanced meals that include fruit, veggies, lean protein, etc. Good luck to you! :bigsmile:0

You're already at the lower end of the healthy bmi spectrum, so your body is going to resist every attempt to lose more!
Are your goals realistic? With so little to lose you're really looking at 1/2lb a week tops, and that's going to take serious calorie counting. Would strength training and toning give you the body shape/ size you're after?0 -
This is what I dont know. I usually weight around 112pounds and have done for years, but since working in an office where im eating more and doing less, ive put on half a stone. Ive got a really petitie frame so it does show, and ive put on inches as well. I dont really know what Im meant to do? Ive been going to the gym, but do I need to be eating less or just eating different things?0

The old saying applies here. Move more and eat less. Stay away from processed foods as they are high in fats and salts. Home cooked meals are the best. You might consider eating more greens and whole grains. Whole grains you can get in cereals etc and also in pasta's. Eat fruits and veggies and a bit of meat. Eat more fish and less red meat. I eat red meat and try to eat more fish.
Hope this helps.0 -
Hi! I am the same height as you and trying to lose a few, too. My diary is open if you want to see what I eat. I eat pretty decently and am seeing a difference. It's slow but definetly working! Sending you a friend request, too.0
