Alright guys I'm troubled right now. I eat breakfast at about 6:20am (before school), lunch at 2:10pm (when i get home from school). I have basketball practice from 8-9:30pm burning about 600-700 calories. SHould I eat dinner before or after practice or does it make a difference? i need some input here thanks!!!

  • If you have breaky at 6:20 am, I think lunch at 2:10 pm is is waaaaaaay too late! That's a gap of 8 hours! If you are up as early as 6:20am, I think you should incorporate another meal into your day to keep your metabolism up and stay out of starvation mode. And have a few snacks in between. I don't know about you, but eating before working out is never a good thing. So maybe eat dinner around 6pm.

I have to agree! but I as well have the same problem sometimes

If eat at 6:20 and you know you will not have your lunch until 2, you should pack some good snacks in between that. as far as dinner, if I had your schedule I would eat dinner before since your practice is not until 8 and then after your practice eat an apple or something liek that!

Ok - I agree with the other poster you might consider putting some food earlier in the day as well (though waiting 8 hrs to eat will not put you in starvation mode).

I would say it doesn't matter WHEN you eat, though eating all your 6-700 cals after practice might leave you feeling bloaty and gross. Eat a good portion of calories throughout the day, and maybe have a meal at 5-6 (so you can digest before practice) but reserve like 200-300 cals for a protein shake when you are done.

    Just my $.02 Good luck!
