Paying it forward to our families!

I love to watch the show Too fat for 15! I was looking for a recipe on their site that my son loves (Oh My Oatmeal Bake) and started looking at their success stories! Then I remembered a post yesterday that was a challenge to pay it forward! When I read the post I thought on this site we do that everyday with wonderful words of encouragement! Then I realized that in the real world most of us diet while our families keep eating "regular" meals. And I soon realized that some of us aren't paying it forward to the most important people in our lives, our family!
I have an 11 yr old son that is about 20 pounds over weight and we eat right for the most part and he is very active! Trust me I am never home thanks to football and basketball. I do let him have food kids enjoy but I also encourage him to eat healthy! And explain to him the reasons why we are changing our lifestyle! I truly want him to realize that being over weight affects many aspects of your life from actives to emotions!! With my son we are working on maintaining his weight rather than losing it, as per the doctor since he is do for a growth spurt soon and they prefer he grows into the weight! So obviously my family is not perfect yet but everyday we are improving! I challenge you to encourage your family to eat healthy with you and teach your kids how to eat proper so that they can avoid the pain the being over weight has caused many of us!!
Below is the website from the actual show, it gives you recipes and some amazing stories of kids that had to go off to school to be taught how to be healthy! Lets start passing our habits we are learning onto our kids so this is not them one day!!

That is an amazing show and I salute those brave young souls. I coun't agree more with you about bringing the family into the fold. I do not want my boys to ever have to go through the trials and heart ache that my weight has caused me.
Best wishes to you and yours! :flowerforyou:0
