Quick question: Does anyone know if there's anything wrong with going over on fiber? I'm not talking about doubling my MFP-recommended intake, but going over by 20-30% sometimes. I've been playing around with tracking the different macronutrients and vitamins, and just realized this fiber business. What do you think?

I wouldn't think there is a problem, fiber is really good for you and a lot of people don't eat enough!

I think unless it causes a problem by ways of diarrhea or something along those lines. If not, I don't think there is anything wrong with it. But then, I'm not well educated or knowledgeable in the topic.

Good luck! Im trying to ADD more fiber :)

    love your picture!!

I think it is an individual thing.... I know I can go up to around 35 grams a day and then after that.....questionable tummy pains .....

BUT, more fiber more water needed.

I suggest experiementing and see what works for you.

    best!

Thanks all! Even on days when I go over, I'm still only eating about 30 grams and I don't have any problems in the bathroom, so I'm not worried. I am trying to drink more water though. Just wanted to run it by you all -- thanks

actually MFP's recommendation for fiber is LOW!!! It is suggested by nutrition guidelines that you should consume 25-40g per day.... High fiber is good... and unless you are having some digestion issues, I wouldn't worry about a little "too much" ;)
I personally shoot for 25+... fruits, veggies and grains baby! :-D

The recommended amount is 20-36grams, so I wouldn't worry. MFP sets it low (at least it did for me at 17g). It's the only thing I change after I let it do its guided nutritional plan. I often get 35+ and have never had a problem. They say the recommended average for women is 25g.
