So I bought my Polar FT4 heart rate monitor approximately 2 weeks ago. I purchased the mens one cuz the womens was (in my opinion) a pretty fugly shade of pink. I didn't think too much about it until I read an answer to someone else's post. The post was questioning if they're really accurate and the answer stated that they were as long as the correct information was entered (height, weight, age, sex). Mine didn't ask me for sex, probably cuz it was assuming I was male. So, bottom line... are there 2 versions cuz men and women burn calories at different rates or are there 2 versions cuz women like girly colors? Anyone have any insight into this?

I'm a guy. purchased the Polar FT4 "Bronze model for women" because it was on sale for 40% off (It really is a god awful color but for workouts who cares) The sales guy said the only difference was the watch band size. When I set mine up, it did ask me for height, weight age and SEX. So it knows I'm a male. My calories burn rates are so high I wonder, however.... IDK 75min of 4.0 on the treadmill burning 972cals seems high!!

Thanx EB! I just cycled thru my settings and found that it was set to female, but I never even saw it. So I must've pushed the right combination of buttons initially!
