so im in the market to buy a HRM. something good for a women, accurate and not more then 50-55 dollars.

i found a few things on amazon and such that seem good, but anyone have any suggestions? i rather just have a watch but if i should get one with a chest strap because they are just better, then i will do that but i have boobs, and a few reviews i have read on some say they arent good for women.

i dont need anything crazy, pretty much i wanna be able to put in my weight, gender, and height if i can- and have it track my heart rate for my entire work out and know how many calories i burned.

Its better to get a chest strap. I have boobs and my strap fits comfortably. I have a polar ft4. I was told you can get one on ebay for about $50. I paid $89.99 at D*cks Sporting Goods so the ebay price is excellent.

You are going to have a hard time finding a decent HRM in that price range. I have a Polar FT4 and paid $75 for it. I tried looking for an inexpensive one and saw nothing but bad reviews. You are better off spending a little bit more money and buying a good HRM.

My husband and I both have the Timex T5G971 Unisex Sports HRM. They have the chest strap. It's better as you don't have to do anything special for it to record your heart rate continuously. They are great and fit comfortable for women that are big chested. No problems there. In fact, I almost forgot to take it off one night before my shower. We got ours from Amazon.

I agree with the other girls. I just bought a polar F7 for $118 (w/2 year warranty) at Sports Authority. And I got a $25 gift card for spending $100. Best thing that I have gotten since I started my weight loss journey. Trust me, don't get a cheap model. You will regret later. Good luck!

I also have a polar FT4 and I love it! I tried one without a chest strap and I felt that the readings were not very accurate. I would go with a chest strap. The strap for the one that I have is pretty comfortable.

some of the ones i read that had a chest strap said they have to be wet? to get a good reading and that it shouldnt be a problem cause u sweat when u workout buuuut i dont. at all. even if i feel like im dying, im lucky if i get slightly sticky on my forhead, so is it gonna work for me if i cant keep it damp?

heres what im looking at -

    timex, unisex-T56971 40-51$

    polar F6- 65$

    polar F4- 36$

the others are nice but just too expensive.
  • I just got the Polar FT4 off Amazon for around $70. It has a chest strap (which is machien washable), and very comfortable, i forget i'm wearing it. I'd definitely spend a little bit more to get a reliable HRM.

Great thread! I was on the fence about getting a HRM, but looks like I'll jump on the Polar FT4. Thanks for the info.

I have the F4 and like it fine. It tells me how many cals I burn, including a chest strap. not super fancy or anything but it works. $36 is a decent price.

ETA - that is a great price for the F4...I didn't look at the F6s but I'm sure that is a great price too.
