Eating at night!

Hey everyone. Here's my problem. I used to hate water, now I drink water as much as I should. I diet during the day, and I exercise a LOT, but when the sun goes down .. and I get hungry .. I just want to eat!
I go to sleep pretty late because of my homework (I babysit all day), and every night, I just hit the fridge and start eating and it ruins my entire day! I really have no discipline. It's true. Does anyone else have this problem and can anyone offer advice possibly?

Oh I know that feeling!!
Make sure the last meal of the day is pretty protein packed. Protein helps to suppress your appetite, and you remain feeling fuller longer. I would keep some nuts, or even cottage cheese, yogurt, cheese sticks, deli-meat, something like that in the fridge/pantry to snack on.
Good luck0 -
When you eat dinner, do you make something that fills you up? That would be step number one. The only other thing to do if you have no willpower to stop you from eating is to keep healthier snacks to hand for the evening. Realistically, if you cant stop yourself from eating, then atleast eating something healthier like fruit or carrot sticks etc would be a step in the right direction.
Also, are you keeping up with the water in the evenings? Maybe try to drink a glass of water, and then only eat if you are still hungry?0 -
I am the exact same way!!!! Problem isn't appetitie it is just the feeling of needing to eat0

Yep! Night eating is my downfall! I really have to work at not eating after 8pm, it's really hard for me! Esp. b/c my boyfriend is a skinny night owl, who can eat cheesy egg sandwiches at 11pm and not gain a pound! It's probably the biggest hurdle I have to overcome on my weighloss journey. I really dont' have advice, but just wanted to let you know I"m int he same boat! I just try to keep reminding myself to grab my nighttime snack by 8 and then really decide if eating anything afterwards is worth it or not. I just try to stay focused on how I"ll feel the next morning. Good luck!0

oh my gosh I harsh suffer from this because I get off work late at 11:00pm and usually I'm in that hungry mode when I get home!
I would literally go home, raid the fridge and eat whatever I can get my hands on.. but I think at the end of the day its about discipline. You just gotta tell yourself that it ain't worth stuffing your face because those are gonna be extra calories that are just gonna pile on and hurt your weight loss goals!
Here are some things I do when I get home and I feel like eating:
-Drink a glass of water
-Drink a glass of decaf herbal tea
-Brush and floss my teeth right away
-Eat an apple0 -
In my opinion the issue is in your first sentence....."I diet all day". If you are restricting all day then your body is probably hungry....and if you get too hungry you tend to over-eat to compensate.
Check out Amihungry.com for some really good way to change thoughts and habits to make this journey a LOT easier.
Good luck!0 -
Yes I am the same way. After everyone goes to bed is my time to relax and as soon as I sit down in front of the tv I want to eat. I won't even be hungry. It sucks. Try to eat better foods if you are going to eat late and drink water. It really is about discipline.
You can do it & Good Luck!0 -
This sounds just like my story minus the babysitting :noway:
My lastest solution & it's seems to work so far is workout in the evening on my recumbent bike or elliptical there by feeling the pain of working out I'm less likely to over indulge then have my last Snackie of the day which is Activia Crunch Yogurt....I feel by mixing the 2 items (yogurt with the oatmeal crunch) that I'm really getting something special....then I eat slowly with a little Tea Spoon while I relax. So far so good.
Good Luck to you:smokin:0
