one pound at a time

So when I first started my journey here, the weight came off pretty steadily, 1-2 pounds a week. Before I started I was kind of a non-believer, I thought I had the type of body/metabolism that just made weight loss difficult, but of course when I started doing it the right way I learned that was not true and I was soooo excited with each pound loss. I truly focused on each pound at a time and was grateful for what I lost.
I've told my story before, wedding stress and being lazy after my wedding has brought back 32 of those pounds. I've been trying for the last 3 months to get it back off but I am not having the same success. I thought it would be easy since I've done it before and I have all the right tools, but I think the problem now is I am being impatient. I want to be back to my skinny weight NOW, and I think I am sabatagoing myself because the one pound at a time seems too slow. It's like, if I can't be that skinny again right now, why even try?
Of course I KNOW I didn't gain it all back in a day so I cannot lose it all in a day, but how can I get that "one pound at a time" vision back? I'm so mad at myself for gaining some back, so I'm having troubles getting excited about that one pound loss, when what I really want is a 32 pound loss.

It is hard and yes you're angry at yourself for gaining the weight BUT you have to find it in yourself to accept where you're at and move forward. Life is all about ups and downs, things we can't control, and things we can control. Your health is something you can control so get excited and take control. Move forward with your weight loss and see your body change. Maybe if you focus on your health rather than the pounds you'll see it differently. I have A LOT of weight to loss and I am focused on eating healthy, no fast food, getting to the gym, and training for a 1/2 marathon in September. I focus on all the other things because if I focus on the pounds I'll get depressed because it's moving so slow. On top of that, if I think of the weight I get sad because I gained my weight due to the loss of my twin boys almost 8 years ago. It's really a journey for your body and your mind. I hope this helps and know that you are not alone! I wish you all the best.0

Weight is a funny thing... nobody ever wakes up and blammo... someone deposited an extra 20 lbs on their body. Weight gain happens gradually. It took time to gain that weight... and yet nobody wants to wait for it to disappear. As a society we are conditioned for the quick fix.
To lose weight in a healthy manner, weight loss needs to occur gradually.
Be patient, work hard and enjoy the never ending supply of compliments you'll receive as you lose weight! You can do it!0 -
A idea I saw (and I won't claim it was mine since it definitely wasn't!) that I'm going to adopt from now on is this:
For every pound you lose, give away one unit of something. Perhaps you have a homeless shelter nearby - you could give them a pound of sugar for every pound of weight you lose? Or maybe you have some de-cluttering to do at home - you could give away a bag of 'pre-loved' stuff to a charity store for every pound you lose.
I like this idea because, as well as giving something to the wider world to celebrate my weight loss, it also gives me a tangible milestone every time, it makes just one pound seem bigger and better AND it's motivating because I want to give away the item I'm donating each time
That's just the idea I liked - hope it helps.0 -
I look at it this way. In six months, I can either be the same weight I am today, or I can be 26 pounds lighter. The six months is going to pass either way.0
