Tea and nausea?

This is kind of random, but I was wondering if anyone else experienced this:
When I drink tea on an empty stomach, or if I only ate a little bit of food, I get overwhelming nausea! I haven't thrown up yet but I've definitely hovered next to the garbage can or toilet because of it haha. Sometimes it can last up to an hour. This happens with any kind of tea, but it does not happen if I eat a full meal with my tea, or if I have the tea after eating a good meal. Sometimes if I have even a light breakfast with tea, I still feel sick. If it matters, I only put honey in my tea.
It's pretty odd and I was wondering if I was the only one!
EDIT: Exception! It does NOT happen with iced tea. Hot tea only.

It’s probably the caffeine on an empty stomach. That would be my guess.0

I've actually never had peppermint tea, though I've heard good things! I suppose it's worth a shot.0 -

Might be, though I am actually more of a coffee drinker and can have coffee anytime without nausea... Perhaps there is something different about the tea?0 -
If you have an acidic tea that could be what's causing the stomach upset. Peppermint or ginger teas are both known to help with nausea so those would be good choices if you like the flavor. Otherwise I guess you need to eat a cracker with it!0
