Hi everyone, I am new to this website, for about a week I have been on here and before I was using fitday.com. I like the support on this site from friends and family. So, I am on the road to my goal weight and doing well so far. My boyfriend is not really into the "diet thing" right now and we live together... I am sure he will come around soon, he used to lift weights etc.. Anyway, he likes everything I cook and even the healthy meals so I am not complaining, but I am looking for new ideas for meals that will make him happy as well as working with my idea of healthy. I need filling ideas I suppose. He is a pizza kind of guy, and that is ok for me once in a while, but not all the time. Just looking for new dinner ideas :) thanks. My usual dinners consist of meat and vegetable and some type of potato since he likes it. I try all new recipes, ethnic foods, and I really like spicy foods.

For my husband, who's really getting into the healthy foods thing with me, I just make 4 "portions". I eat one, he eats 2, and I have one left for lunch the next day (or he does. LOL).
  • 4 oz skinless boneless chicken breast

    The juice of 1 orange

    1 tbsp lemon juice

    1/2 tbsp fresh chopped garlic

    1 tsp red pepper flakes

    1 tsp ground black pepper

    1/2 tbsp clover honey

    2 orange slices

    Dash soy sauce

    Dash olive oil

Mix all ingredients but chicken in a small bowl.

After washing and drying chicken breast pierce several times with fork.

Coat the chicken in the marinade and pour all into a small ziplock baggie.

Place in fridge and marinate at least 30 minutes (longer for more flavor)

When marinade is done place chicken and marinade in shallow dish and bake at 350 for 15 minutes with orange slices on top or until chicken is done.
I serve this with rice and a veggie!
    Serve and enjoy!

You can always serve him an extra 50% serving if he's just not finding a serving enough, or give him the full-fat version of spreads etc to add.
I refuse to cook multiple meal types for whoever is eating dinner, they eat what I made or do without (barring gluten / lactose intolerances) Saw mom and friends mom's spend the entire evening cooking essentially 3 different meals to 'cook' for everyone who was eating. The only time I do cook more types is when I'm doing a big batch of cooking anyway then everything gets cooked up, portioned out and stored away fro later use,.

That may work, thanks! I tend to make enough for two and he is always still hungry, of course he doesn't eat throughout the day like me either. So I think that is why he likes the heavier foods with carbs because that is about his only meal and it fills him up.

I just give my husband extra servings of what I am making, so I usually make enough for 3-4 and then IF there is anything leftover it gets eaten for lunch.

I will also, when it makes sense in the meal, try to add something extra for him that i am not eating - such as adding a sliced sausage, chips on the side, if I make eggs he also gets ham or breakfast sausage, slices of italian bread.

Get some dinner rolls, bread sticks, cheese bread, or other breads to accompany his meal. You can get most of that frozen, so it is easy to make a single serving as needed, and it will help him feel full.
