If you are like me, and constantly hear non-runners caution you against the damage you're doing to your body from running, check out this new article from NPR. It's good news!

first ive heard, i run alot and really enjoy it....what damage do these ppl say it will do to our bodies?0 -
I used to hear that a lot too, and still even with my husband occasionally even though hes the one who told me about that exact article several months back, it was in discovery or national geo or something but I think its pretty much the same thing:) Thanks for posting that! Even if it was hard on me I would still do it, nothing feels like a good run to me, nothing! Have fun running! oh and also there are lots of good form running clinics if you are exp pain, I took one and learned a lot through that and chi running about form and prevention of injuries:)0

Yeah, I heard people say it's bad for joints. Which makes no sense. We're born hunters, back in the day we ran all the time0

Knee and hip problems, both of which I have developed after just 1 year of running. However, I do to agree, that running alone is not going to affect someone's joints. I used to be obese, so I know that put a lot of pressure on my joints, and weakened them, plus having a family history of arthritis made things worse.nothing feels like a good run to me, nothing!
Ditto. No matter how much it hurts, I still run, because running is so liberating! Plus, there are many stretching and conditioning exercises for people with moderate pain.
All you runners out there, keep on running!0 -
Thank you!!!!
Just had this discussion with someone a few weeks ago.0 -

Well, count yourself lucky. I get people telling me that if I run, it'll ruin my knees and hips. I keep at it anyway.I love it. I wouldn't maintain a healthy weight without it -- it's my lifesaver (literally).
I figure if my two older sisters didn't run, and they both needed surgery on both hips, why not give the running approach a go. So far, so good. Knock on wood.0 -

Amen to the running clinics to learn proper form. That's super important.
I'll add to that list a pair of professionally fitted running shoes (from a running store!).0 -
Ive been running since day 1 of my journey, it has gave me the best body of my life, never ever had a problem with my joints because I knew I had to eat properly and take the proper vitamins, especially as a women because our bodys are different than mens. I wasn't planning on stopping anyway, but hey... That certainly eases my mind.0
