1) Is it normal to feel dizzy or nasuas after a workout?
I blame the nasua on eatting a lil over an hour before working out. I had a protein shake.

2) What is the best post-workout food/drink for recovery?

Feeling dizzy and nauseated is your body's way of telling you that you're working it too hard...or at least harder than it's used to. Be sure to pay attention to that, because you're likely to pass out if your heart rate gets too high, and that's obviously not good. As far as the nausea...I have to wait at least 2 or 3 hours after I eat to work out or I feel like I'm going to puke because even on an empty stomach working out gives me some degree of indigestion.

As far as good recovery food goes...save the protein shake for after your workout. Your muscles will need the extra protein to repair/recover. Also, it appears that bananas and oranges are good post-workout foods...I always see them at races for the racers to have once they cross the finish line. I asked about the bananas one time, and my wellness coach told me it was because of the potassium...helps to ease cramps and has enough sugar to give you some energy.

You might be working a little too hard if you are feeling dizzy. Could be low blood sugar as you've depleted your reserves?

You could try taking Gatorade or similar during the course of the workout so that you don't totally crash.

Recovery drinks will help after the fact. They are usually full of proteins, amino acids etc that help speed recovery.

I have felt like that before when I really had a hard workout. I have found that it depended a lot on what I ate before and if I drank enough water. Stay hydrated and besure and eat a good protein loaded meal 1-2 hours before working out. That's what helps me. I'm one of those people that cannot workout on an empty stomach. If I get dizzy or sick feeling afterwards I know I need to eat a protein snack soon. Eating makes it go away.

I have hypoglycemia so I have to eat something every few hours and I'd drank my 8 glasses of water for the day before I started working out, but had kept up with water during breaks. I don't know, I've always felt like that after a workout. Not immediately, but a few minutes after, like if I'm trying to lay down or stand up from whatever position I was in.

the only foods i use before a workout are a banana and sometimes a bit of green tea. i usually mix the tea half green half cranberry (non caffeine) and never ever use sugar, i drink at least a half liter or so of good clean water during my half hour cardio workout. this is something i learned in my exercise science class. as we perspire we need to replenish right away, i have noticed it takes me a good 5 min to raise my heart rate up to the recommended level to make use of the cardio properly. find your target heart rate so you can make the most of that cardio workout. also recommended is to do at least 12 minutes of cardio BEFORE you attempt any stretching. it is always best to warm up your muscles, even if it's just walking. when you're finished with your 30-45 minutes, hit the blender for a healthy fruit smoothie and include flax oil or ground flax. ENJOY!
