Does anyone have a good link to nutritional information on Thai food from a restaurant?

At work they order Thai every Thursday and I've been avoiding it because I can't count the calories, etc. The food is amazing, so, I'd love to have some.

If you were going to order at a Thai restaurant, what would you get and how would you count it?

Thanks!
gail

BTW...this is the menu

OMG! are you in my head?? I was about to post a similar thread.

Today my boss is taking me out for Thai food and I can't find anything really substantial on calories for menus.

I hope someone can post up a link or somthing...

I researched this last week! I found calorie counts by Googling my favorite dishes, like "Drunken Noodle calories" and got reasonable estimates. I ended up getting Tom Yum soup since it is low in calories.

Maybe this is one of those times when you shouldn't worry about counting? Just enjoy it, and move on to counting the next meal afterwards.

    What would I order? Pad Thai....but I don't think that's a "health" dish. :) Mmmmmm.

I've kind of done the same - googled or used the MFP search, and gone with that! I live in the country and we don't have much out here, but we have a great local Thai restaurant! They have great lunch special that gives you a small bowl of soup (lemongrass veg is so good, and I'm guessing pretty reasonable calorie wise) a couple of spring rolls and a small entree. Just avoid the things with coconut milk! Tofu is low in fat (as long as it's not fried!) and high in protein so a good alternative to meat.

Jenn, I'm the same way. I'll eat what I want, but I want to at least have an estimate of what the calories are. I don't mind going over as long as I'm accountable. On the weekends, things tend to go to h e double hockey sticks, so, to have a day like that during the week really throws me off.

I love Pad Thai. I'm thinking I could order that and eat half, or order that and then just have a salad for dinner.

From doing WW, I remember that steamed dumplings, chicken satay (but no peanut sauce), shrimp satay and tom yum soup were all good choices. .
  • I guess you could look for recipes online (Alton Brown makes Pad Thai on an episode of Good Eats) and enter it into the recipe calculator on here, just to get a good ballpark estimate. It's going to basically be noodle calories + meat calories + oil calories. The oil can get crazy in some restaurants, so that is the biggest mystery to me.

I ended up going with Basil Chicken and white rice. The sauce was thin and not as oily as I thought it would be. VERY spicy with lots of veggies :) The way I figure, I could have been worse and it was really good. I'll have a kick butt salad for dinner and take it easy the rest of the day. I'm stuffed anyways.
