Multi Vitamins WHY??

Why do multi- vitamins have like 100-300% of your daily allowance of - whatever??Why would a person need more than 100%? Is there one out there that is just an actual SUPPLIMENT to my diet? Maybe 50% of your daily allowance. Im eating food I dont need to have so much of anything.

What they don't really tell you is some are water soluable. So the 100% of vitamin C or B vitamines are going right out the next time you pee. The rest of the day you have 0% available. Better to split those up into portions several times a day. "A" is fat soluable, so it accumulates. You don't want to mega-dose the fat soluable vitamines. I naturally eat plenty of "A" , so I'm wary of taking additional in a vitamin. I'd be all yellow! Iron, though, I can't seem to get enough and I found out i'm low, even if I'm trying in my diet. I might go get a few specific things I think I'm not getting enough of. Some people (vegans for example) have trouble getting specific things when they cut out entire food groups.
I don't think it's safe to go with the trends in what you need mega doses for. They end up being trends and studies have them being "good" one year, then we find out there were flaws in the studies or the study was too small or skewed another year. So I'm a moderation sort of person with supplements.
Some people believe the current hype of what's great to mega-dose for. "C" had it's hay day, "zink" has it's believers, and "E" has followers. I try to get my info from places OTHER than health food stores and mens fitness articles.0 -
