so i was doing 30 day shred with good consistency, i was taking 1 day off a week and that was going really smoothly. around the end of level two, (the last few days, i was gonna start 3 today) my left knee just feels like its not there, not going to support me through the lunges in set 2. so i've been just doing the bicep curls or doing some of those knee exercises she has as a warm up in level 1.
i've had ankle trouble before, same leg, but getting new running shoes solved that problem. i use the same shoes for 30ds. i'm going to move on to level 3 and see if just the repetitive exercise was wearing on me. idk. any ideas or exercises to improve knee strength/flexibility?
when i run i don't experience this weakness.
((i am seeing my doc the beginning of april so i will talk to him then too))

I've had knee problems from extreme cardio and my doctor diagnosed me with Chondromalacia Patella. I'm still trying to strengthen my knee, but I might end up having to go to physical therapy. Here's a site about what I have:

Have a look here for adaptations - http://www.theshredheads.com/2009/12/the-30-day-shred-2010-adaptations.html

I gave up shredding after doing it for 5 days, because I also started getting knee pains - never had it before.

I now do Jillian's other DVD (No More Trouble Zones), because I wanted to include some body conditioning in my exercise plan. This DVD is less 'jumpy' & moves much slower, so you have more time to get the correct form/technique for the exercise.

I got chondromalacia from sports in college to the point where I stopped playing basketball.

For decades, my left knee felt "weak" (hard to describe) and about every other day I got a pain in my right knee that felt like a hot needle going right through my knee.

For me, the "fix" was physic but I never got serious about fixing it.

When I moved to SoCal in 2005, I got a new GP and he suggested that I try glucosamine with chondroitin. I researched it and the only medical evidence I could find was that clinical trials had shown that gluc was no more effective fir mild arthritis than a placebo.

    Rats.

I tried it anyway and..it works like a charm. I take two tablets a day and I have been pain free for over five years!

Just to "test" myself I don't take it for a few days and, sure enough, the ache and weakness comes back.

I get my gluc from CostCo.

    Try it-it just might work!

I live by glucosamine with chondroitin. I have arthritis in both knees, its really bad in my right though. I had been taking naproxen but I have IBS and Stevens Johnsons, so it messed with my bowels and almost killed me. Glucosamine is really all I can take along with a really good multivitamin, but it works like a charm. I love it! Definitely get your docs take on it though!

I never had knee problems until 30 day shred! Both started feeling weak and a bit painful (not constant pain though), but my right one is worse. I feel it the worst when I walk up stairs. I don't know why it happened though because I make sure on the lunges/squats that my knees don't go past my toes and try to stay in the right form during everything else. It's just weird because I've been playing very competitive soccer since I was 6 (I'm 22) and have never had any knee problems before this dvd! lol

When I started working out all the time, lots of high impact stuff...I was having major knee pains. I started taking glucosamine and chondroitin supplements and I no longer have any knee pain at all. It can't hurt to try. Good luck!
