Does anybody know which way planks benefit you more? I know that you can do them like a regular push up or you can do them on your forearms? I do the forearm one but if the other way benefits me more rather do it that way!!

The forearm planks are awesome, especially when you pull in your tummy and squeeze your gluts and thighs...
See gravity is working against your core so you have to pull it in to keep good form. I do them both ways, but I honestly feel more burn when i do it on my forearms.0 -
Different planks work different muscles, obviously, but I also feel it the most when I do it on my forearms. I've found that side planks in particular are not very helpful because my wrist starts hurting way before my muscles start burning.0

I love the forearm plank, too... I life one leg and count to 3 then switch. Also, if you can finish strong with one arm out at a time (both feet down, obviously) talk about a burn! It works your core like no other. Does anyone else feel it in the shoulders/arms, too or is just me?0

I find forearm planks MUCH harder0

I love doing 1 arm forearm planks with the same foot resting on top of the other. I do this for 45 seconds and then switch.
I like to plank till failure after my ab workout (last night was 3 minutes), just to make sure they're dead.0 -

I do my side plank on my forearm like I do the standard plank. I can't imagine holding myself on my hand doing that, and if I did my wrist would probably get sore as well. It is illustrated here in the second way he shows to do it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tm1QxM9lehY
To the original poster, different positions will change the emphasis, but you want to work your core, and if you chest or arm muscles get to tired first, you won't do that. This is why I use the forearms positions when I do the plank. Usually it is one of the last things I do in my workout, so my chest and arms are already tired. Doing it up on my hands like in a push-up position, would mean I don't get the full benefit of the plank because my arm and chest muscles will give out first.0 -
