If you know Chris Farley, then you get it!!!! Anyway, my scale is really the devil this week, I feel like I'm on track, and I had a gain!!! Not to mention I turned 53 yesterday!!!! So I decided to try on some clothes that back in Dec. were less then comfortable. All my coats that were busting at the seams, now fit me perfect!!!! Everything I tried on, tops and bottoms fit just right or are lose on me. I've been really working out, so could it be the muscle that is weighing heavy? I just read that it is untrue that muscle weighs more than fat, but maybe my muscle is just more superior than others! Ha Ha!!! Anyway, I'll take my positives anywhere I can get them. And if the scale just refuses to play nice then I shall once again ignore it. It's much more fun to play in my closet!!!!!!!!

I think the way you feel and the way your clothes fit are a much more indicative of how well you are doing. Numbers are just numbers. Don't stress about them!

    Congrats! Best feeling ever!

As a side note, I wouldn't say the statement is untrue, the statement is just incomplete. Muscle weighs more than fat per unit of volume. In other words, muscle is more dense than fat.

THAT'S GREAT!! by the way, i really hope i am as beautiful as you when i am your age :)
  • The scale and I are pretty much over...I just had the same thing happen to me! Not a pound lost in March, but some clothes I haven't worn in a while are fitting sooooo much better!
Don't worry, you're not alone. Muscle doesn't weight more then fat (it sure takes up less space!), at least you are seeing/feeling results :)
By the way, your hat is fabulous!!

lol, measurements are the key, the scale is the greasy car salesman of the weight loss world. Its not about the number I preach that time and time again to men and women, you can be heavier and look like a million bucks. I am 171 pounds currently, I am still considered obese somewhat from the damned BMI bullcrap, but I fit into a size 32 jeans comfortably, I am built and more muscular than many my size so the scale means nothing to me. I do weigh myself once a week but there have been weeks of higher and lower ranges, so who cares so long as the clothes fit then you are equipped lol. You shed fat and gained muscle its a wonderful thing. Yes a pound of fat is the same as a pound of muscle but it fits into a much smaller volume than the fat did hence why your clothes fit better and the scale lied to you about fat loss.

A pound of fat weights the same as a pound of muscle which weighs the same as a pound of gold - they're all 1 pound!!! The difference, is how much "room" they take up! A pound of fat is bigger in volume than a pound of muscle - in otherwords, you can replace a pound of fat with a pound of muscle and you will be smaller ;o)

Picture a pound of gold - because it's so dense, it won't seem like you're getting as much - quality vs quantity! Hope that makes sense and helps.

So, definitely go by the way your clothes are feeling and the measuring tape and not just the scale!

Good job on your clothes fitting better!!!
