Ok so this will seem odd for some but Im sure not all of you.

My parents eat Gluten Free. My Sister eats Clean. I eat Healthy lol. But I look into the magazines, recipes, advice, ect of both of their diets and my frustration is this: Almost ALL the recipes contain Nuts I am Allergic to! As is my Mom, making lifestyle changes incredibly hard! Even the "living without" magazine doesnt cover nut allergies! Sure they dont contain Peanuts (most commonly allergic nut) but Peanuts My Mom & i actually CAN eat lol.

I am allergic to Walnuts, Pecans & Macadmia Nuts.
Mom is ONLY able to eat Peanuts and Almonds.

These were later in life develpoing allergies for BOTH of us so we know what nuts taste like and LOVE them. You should have seen my devestation when Pecans were the first nuts to make me react at 18! Moms nut allergies didnt start till her early 20s.

SO How come all of these fitness magazines avoid Peanuts, but feature so many other nuts? Do they not think there are OTHER nut allergies out there? I would love to see more Healthy, flavorful, Protein packed, Recipes that dont contain Nuts, as Healthy as they are for you.

Simple solution is to omit the nuts from the recipes or sub with the nuts you CAN eat!

I think the idea of those recipes is to show people how to incorporate healthy nuts into their recipes because they are so good for you.

Recipes like to use the other nuts because they're higher in the good fats (like walnuts with Omega 3s), and not as many saturated fats as peanuts.

You can probably substitute almonds for any of those recipes!! Peanuts are pretty distinct in taste, they don't do very well as a substitute.

My boyfriend is allergic to all tree nuts (so he can have peanuts). I really do miss nuts but he'll react if I kiss him, and I'm not giving that up. ;)

My 6 year old is allergic to Peanuts, but we don't have any nuts in the house. The only time I eat any kind of nut is when I'm out with friends for dinner - which is hardly ever! I think I eat tasty, healthy food - without nuts. I also don't look for recipes in health magazines...they always seem to have hard to find ingredients or ingredients I wouldn't commonly buy. Keep searching! Google is your friend!

lol yeah I have a hard time at holidays because my family loves Pecan Pie (the ones that can eat it) and they have to brush teeth & lips before even kissing me on the cheek! I went to an Airforce Ball 2 years ago and had to get a special made sald (in a special kitchen at this hotel lol!) because the one the co-ordinator for the Airforce chose had Pecans in it! And I wasnt the only one at the table (or the event) they had to re-make salads for as a result. Sometimes it jsut really irritates me that people are so inconsiderate of other's allergies!

I get that its a good way for others to incorporate things into their Diet, thats not my issue. My issue is that shouldnt these "wonderful" magazine be preaching ALL types of nutrition? Including outside of nuts?
