Hey everyone,
Looking for suggestions for some low-sodium snacks. I'm a salt addict, and not really looking to replace my favorites with fruits. Anyone have some great suggestions that aren't too sweet?

Walmart has an apple called a Cripps Pink. It's delicious and has 0mg of sodium and only 56 calories :)

Hummus...I dip carrot sticks or reduced fat wheat crackers in it. Low cal/low sodium and very good for you!

Stop & Shop and other chain grocery stores sell this stuff called Grail Mix (made by a company called Aurora). It's delicious and exactly what you would think from the name - a mix of trail mix and granola. It's delicious, really low in sodium, and filled with nuts, dried cranberries, raisins, and of course, granola. It's delicious - good on its own or in yogurt. I eat it nearly every day.

Hummus is extremely good stuff. Pita Pal's tomato and basil is the lowest sodium I've found yet at 90mg for a 2 Tbsp serving. Grab some cut up veggies and you have a great snack. Another of my favorites is Swiss cheese and a piece of fruit. Generally, Swiss is around 30 to 60mg a slice, even the reduced fat varieties. Also, salted nuts aren't as bad as you might think. Read your labels. An ounce of Planter's South Beach mix is 50mg of sodium. And because the salt is sitting on top, you can taste it rather well. Then there's boiled eggs, peanut butter, and Kashi Heart to Heart crackers... There really is a lot of stuff out there. You just have to read a lot of labels.

I second the hummus suggestion--so yummy and filling! I actually eat 1oz. of roasted red pepper hummus and Kashi Heart to Heart crackers (7 = a serving) almost every workday for breakfast. It doesn't sound like much, but the protein and good fat keeps me full for hours.

You must get a good brand though or it's just not worth it--Dominick's Signature Cafe is the best, if you don't have Dominick's stores in your area, Sabra is another good brand.

Thanks everyone, these are some great suggestions! I definitely eat tons of hummus :) I try to switch up varieties because I eat so much of it. I'm a huge fan of any of the spicy ones (Sabra Supremely Spicy, or Jalapeno). I also enjoy Trader Joe's Pretzel Slims, which are also surprisingly low-sodium and low-cal :)
