totally random --- anyone good at Organic Chemsitry?
I need help on my homework its kicking my *kitten*
Help?
Also How can I get an image of the question into here? I don't have flikr or photobucket...
OH i'll add it as a picture of me, it'd probably be too small tho... well help with that too please!

I did take an Organic Chem. class at one point, but I think I barely passed LOL!
If you ever have math/physics questions, give me a shout0 -
Oddly enough, I'm a chemist... While organic wasn't always my fav (I'm more analytical/inorganic), I might be able to help.0
-
im great at organic chem whats the question0
-
Had to re-take orgo 2, so it kinda got drilled into my head, but that was a few years ago and has probably been replaced by other slightly more useful knowledge. But maybe I remember enough to help.0

The subject we are on is Alkenes and Alkeynes Addition reactions, that should give you a reference.
We are given hepta-1,6-diene and it reacts with catalytic H+ and I am supposed to guess the two constitutional isomer products
The hints we are given:
Composition of the products is C7H12
Both isomers react with one equiv. of Br20 -
When's the assignment due? All my organic books are at work...0
-
I think the answers are hept-6-en-2-ylium but the composition of that is C7H13!!!!
UGH!!
We are also asked to predict the products if the same reactant reacts with KMnO4, OH-, and heat0 -
Tomorrow morning 11am. I am a true procrastinator =]0
-
Well, I'll check back in the morning at 7:30 ish. If you don't have the answer by then, I'll work on it.0

Can you give the actual question as it is written?
I aced organic chem, but I need to know how the question is being asked.... (sort of a quirk, but its the type of thinker I am...)0 -
Draw bond-line structures of the products corresponding to each boldfaced letter in the following
reaction sequence. The composition of A and B is C7H12. Both react with only one equiv of Br2.
...................................................... catalytic H+
((Drawing of hept-1,6-diene))
> A + B (constitutional isomers)

C
I need to find products A+B+C0 -
In the rxn for C, the fact that there is heat added makes me think its an elimination reaction, We always learned that heat was elimination. And its a small base, so probably E2 right?0

My brain hurts... Turns out Orgo has been blocked from my memory. Probably too traumatic.0

Yeah I don't blame you. Unfortunately I'll probably need this crap for my career.
I'm going into biomedical engineering. Yay for the hardest major at my school!!!!0 -

I am having difficulty recreating the bond diagram (im too much a visual learner that I need the images)
as soon as I get all that straight I will get it....

Thats the picture, except there is another double bond on the other end of the carbon chain also0 -
Im sorry I couldn't get to you,
I kept getting something that didn't quite work out.
Hopefully you were able to figure out the assignment....0
