Popcorn question

I have an air popper and I usually use the Orville Reddenbacher popcorn oil (or Parkay Butter Spray) after the popcorn is popped. The problem is that it's hard to distribute the oil evenly and I usually end up with some of the popcorn extra buttery and others not buttered at all AND an oily mess at the bottom of the bowl. I was thinking that if I put the oil on first, it might turn out better. So, will I damage my machine by coating the kernals before putting them in the popper?

I don't have an answer to your question, but I just wanted to say, I like your 111 by 11/11/11 goal-- pretty cool.

Yes, you will break your popper and possibly start a fire. Me and my friends were able to get all four we tested to easily catch fire. One created it's own air-fuel flash that removed some eyebrows from a bald man. i told him wear my firefighters helmet and mask, but knoooow.

i have the same popper and LOVE it!!! i was actually just thinking of popcorn a minute ago!!! i would suggest putting the oil into a big gallon zip lock bag and putting the popcorn into the bag and just shaking it up like crazy. i will do that with EVOO...and it usually coats pretty evenly! good luck and enjoy the popcorn!! :drinker:

In an air popper? Yes! It's also a fire hazard and I wouldn't do it! If you want popcorn popped in oil get a machine for this type of popping. It really takes very little oil and does make it tastier (I use virgin coconut oil).

EDITED because I left out an important contraction.

LOL! OK, I'm convinced. You don't have to tell me twice. I won't do it! BTW....I hope the eyebrows grew back!
