Have you been working out? You may be gaining muscle. If I do not lose in a week I take measurments to see if there is progress there.
  • gaining muscle perhaps?

If you are just starting and have been on a very low calorie diet or have been on a diet of binging and "starving", you may gain weight at first while your metabolism corrects itself.

It's probably not muscle, unless you are really lifting a lot.

Are you doing strength training? I just started a killer strength training program a month ago and I'm up about 5 pounds. But all my clothes are loose.

This freaks me out a bit even though I know intellectually what is going on.

Also, if I had eaten as much as MFP told me to eat when I first started, I never would have lost. It had my BMR set too high so my base calories were too high.

Yea- 1200 calories really isnt enough for a guy, bump that goal up to 1500 or 1600 and try incorporating some veggies and such. Even when supplements and shakes have good components, a lot of people find they make better progress with the real thing.

Agreed, this is what happened to me at first. It picked up and then BAM, lost weight fast.

Well that's a lot of lifting. How are your clothes fitting?
