I am just getting started with this. I found this as an iPhone app and really like it! I am 42 and needing to loose a LOT of weight, 80+ lbs. I have become diabetic and want to get fit again to get off the meds and also set a better example for my children.

  • Hey, welcome to the forums.
When I started out I found that small changes helped me the most.

for example, every month i stopped doing one thing,
    - no more sugar in coffee
    - no more creme in coffee
    - no more beer
    - no more cookies
    - no more cake - well except on my kid's birthday
    - no more midnight snacks
    - no more 4:pm snack at work
    - no more soda pop

and so on. there are many small things that i did that all added up. when i started off i was 338 lbs. Now I am around 255. Lost a bunch by doing these small cut back changes my own before starting off here.

also i started doing a 1/2 mile walk most mornings (in the summer) before work. that was all i could do at first, slowly building up my abilities, got easier as i lost more weight. Now I can jog about 5 miles at a time. And strangely enjoy it.

My goal is to lose about another 20 lbs, so I have to keep at it, but already i can see it being easier to maintain, as by doing it slowly over the couple of years it has been now, i have significantly changed my lifestyle, now enjoying being more active. And also saving a bit of money from not indulging in all the snacks i used to all the time too :)
