Eating Out

I don't know why but every time I eat out, no matter what it is, I feel guilty afterwards! I work at Buffalo Wild Wings, and I went there for dinner tonight. I got a side salad and a grilled chicken wrap and only ate half of it. I know these are both healthy because I see how they are made. The worst part of any of it was the cheese in the wrap... But I still feel like I ate fatty food! I feel like that at home when I cook things also. If it isn't raw or a cold sandwhich I feel like I ate something bad, I don't know how to kick the feeling! :frown:

the tortilla was probably the worst part (really)...fajita size tortillas can be 200+ calories
You probably feel this way because we associate eating out with "indulging"...try looking up your food before going out so you get to know what works well for you. For example, we ordered Panera at work today. The turkey artichoke panini (which I normally avoid) was 370 calories (yeah!!) but the creamy tomato soup was about the same. For me, the soup would be a waste of my calories.

I have learned that eating is more about moderation than it is about WHAT you eat. I still eat ice cream but I just get one small scoop rather than 2 big scoops. I pick one flavor today and in a few weeks when I get another scoop I pick the other one.... you have to realize that life is about choices and that changing a lifestyle is all about moderation... and YOU Control your moderation. Don't feel guilty, just be smart about it and take small steps to make change.0

I have a big party to go to tomorrow night that I am nervous about. I did ask ahead what they will be serving so I can be prepared. I am going to try to stick to protein and veggies. It is also free drinks and I have decided to allow myself a glass of wine. I think I will be ok. Best to be prepared and we all need to incorporate healthy eating into our lives and every situation we can't stay at home forever we need to learn how to make smart choices when given the opportunity. I think you made very good choices and should be proud of your self:)0

I did check out how many calories were in the wrap and since I only ate half of it it was a total of 230 calories, so not bad. And I ate the salad instead of the other half. I love Panera bread! I always get half a tuna and some low fat chicken noodle soup, yumm!!! It's only like 300 calories for the whole thing0 -
Don't feel bad! If you're making good choices and you're tracking your calories, then you're doing the right thing! Chin up!
Maybe you associate "dieting" (or..."lifestyle change" rather) with negative feelings? Eating out is so fun and positive that you enjoy it. Maybe you're not used to having fun with food anymore...so once you realize that you just had a great time, you equate it with "cheating" or something...therein sparking your guilty feelings.?? Maybe?
If you're honestly eating well and tracking, then let the guilt go! Enjoy yourself! It sounds like you're doing wonderfully!0 -

I think you're probably right, I feel like if I really like the food it probably isn't good for me. Crazy as it may sound! I was very proud of myself for getting a side salad instead of a side of the potato wedges I love so much!!0 -
Be proud of the fact that you stopped to think about what was the best choice for you. You could have said, it's TGIF, I'm gonna have whatever I want, then you would feel guilty. You did a great job, don't beat yourself up!0
