Hey everyone,

Is anyone a member of Planet Fitness and can you tell me what you think about it? Also, does it have a child care area?

Replies

  • I'd like to know as well. It might be a bit late for me since I've already signed up for one that's opening in my area soon, but would like to hear the experiences of others!

I'm a member, and I love it. I love that it's mostly normal people working on getting healthier, not full of gym rats or bunnies.

There isn't a child care area. That's how they keep their prices low.... No extra frills.

I belong to Planet fitness, and am really enjoying it there.
They have a childcare facility, but when I viewed the one at my Planet Fitness, the ladies looked less than enthusiastic and so I have never used it.

Planet Fitness is a great place for a no-nonsense gym. But don't expect many 'amenities'. I doubt there is child care, but they have a web site and pages for each club so you may want to double check there. I love it there, they are open 24 hours and since mine is new, the equipment is brand spanking new.

I am :) From what I understand each location is individually owned so you could have some differences. Like I wanted to sign up for some personal fitness or even talk about my diet with one of the trainers because it says free on the site, but I go at 5:30 a.m. and the man that runs the gym that early charges by the hour :( On Saturday and Sunday I can get some one on one, so when I wanted a tutorial on some machines and a circuit set up for me the staff was very helpful and FREE!! They do some group walk throughs for the machines too but they were never scheduled for when I could go. None of the locations near me have child care, that is why I go so early in the morning while my son is sleeping and my husband is still home. I find it very clean and meets my needs of getting in and out quickly with the most effect. There are no perks, like I have other friends who are moms who go to another gym, use the elliptical for 20min and sit in the sauna the rest of the time. Not for me! Hope this helps :)

I know people that love it, but it wasn't what I was looking for. The one I joined was very crowded with machines, and in the evenings it felt like singles night, lol. When I went in the 'trainers' were too busy talking (flirting) with younger girls and the music was so loud that I couldn't hear them easily over it.

It had just opened though and I was so discouraged I didn't stay long. To the best of my knowledge, they as a company don't offer child care at the gyms. I need that option so the low cost was not worth it for me.

I joined a different gym with much more options for exercise, roomy, never feels crowded even when you can't find a spot and it works for me.

best advice is to always check them out in person.... even with the same francise each club will be different as far as clientele and staffing. Even a minor difference can make a big change.
