Hi, I am 51 year old and about 80 lbs over weight. I was in great shape in the Army and in 1986 I broke my foot and could not run any more so the Army medically discharged me in 1989. I went to Bible college and Seminary and have been pastoring since 1993.

I have been married for 32 years and have 2 daughters who's husbands are in the Army. Each of the girls have 3 children so my wife and I have 6 grandchildren. Who are a big motivation. But I guess wanting to pastor my church until I am 70 is my biggest motivation.

In February 1998 my dad died from complications of diabetes, then in 2001 my oldest brother died from a diabetic coma so I looked on the Internet at the symptoms for diabetes and I had all of them. I went to the Dr and found that I was a diabetic. I weighed 310 lbs and I am only 5' 10" so I got scared and started a diet and and walking. I lost down to 210, that was in 2002. From then (2002) till this January (2011) I had gained back to 278 lbs.

I started Weight Watchers and started walking again. I decided to register to walk a half-marathon in June so I found a walking plan to train for the "Big Day" June 4th. I have lost 20 lbs and have worked up to 5 miles per regular day and 8 miles for my long day.

I decided that MPL would work for me because I can count calories as easy as I can count points. So I found you on the web and signed up yesterday and plan to stay with this until I reach my goal of 185 lbs.

Awesome Bro Dave. Welcome and glad your here. It's a great site and great people here. There are a lot of people that will help keep you on track and is very sweet. I have started back eating better and working out again because of the positive words of my friends on here. I'm also a diabetic and need to loose about 55 pounds. It's hard when you are so use to eating whatever you want and how you want and then have to put a stop to it and change everything. My husband is great to eat anything I do so it helps me. I'm soooo happy you are doin something about it now and not waiting til something happens to you. Just know you can do anything through God. He's always with us and loves us. Keep your head held high and as I always say.....Keep on moving. good luck on your journey.
