Morning all. I'm a newbie as of this past Wednesday night. I signed up on my iTouch (was looking for an app to track calories) and then went on the website and discovered that MFP is more than just a calorie tracker! I was so impressed, and am looking forward to losing weight.
I'm a single, divorced mother of 1 daughter - I am one of the folks who was weight-appropriate until I got married and had a child, and have just kept putting weight on ever since. I'm now hoping to lose roughly 75 pounds - and after that, to tone and shape. I've struggled with this weight thing for 8 years now, and really feel that MFP can help me out in this area.
I have a membership at the YMCA, and going to the gym won't be hard - my daughter has swim team practice there twice a week, so I will be there for an hour at least twice a week - I plan, initially, to do cardio - after I'm down a bit, and my energy is up, I can start more strength training.
My incentive to do this is to be a healthy role model for my daughter. She is 7 years old (almost 8) and she is 100% on board with me for this - we have both agreed to make lifestyle changes - eating healthier, and less eating out. I was so excited when this morning she got up and peeled an orange for me.
Anyway - here's to losing the weight! Wish me luck everyone!

That's how I found this site, too (had the app on my android). I thought, what more could you need than a calorie counter?? Soooo much more, thanks to this site. It's AWESOME!!!
Anyway, here's wishing you the best of luck, though I'm sure you won't need it. But good luck anyways!!!!!0
