Injury

I've been running a lot lately, but yesterday while playing with my Girl Scout Troop, I slipped in mulch and fell fast and hard. My right leg went forward and my left leg was backwards. (in the Herkey position, if you know what it is for cheerleading) I immediately knew I hurt myself bad, and had my husband come take me to the ER.

I got to the ER, waited forever and a day, but finally got some Xrays... nothing broken. They said they couldn't do an MRI I had to go to my family doctor for that. Sent me home with some weak pain meds (i'm using hydrocodone from a previous surgery) So now I'm waiting for Monday to come around to get into our family doctor. The pain originates in my right thigh/hip. Has anyone had excruciating pain here before and any ideas of what it might be?

Like did I pull tendons or something? I don't think this is just a muscle pull...something much worse than that with the pain i'm having. Oh... also, I cannot walk. I can drag my lag, but it is 'pass out' pain if I lift it up to walk.

Any ideas? I'm icing it right now, and keeping it on about 20 to 30 minutes every two hours...it's not helping with the pain, but hopefully is keeping the swelling down.

You should see an orthopedic doctor. A break would have been better, bad tendon or ligament damage can take a long time to heal properly.

Stick with R.I.C.E. (rest, ice, compression, and elevation) and good luck

You can try 800mg ibuprofen(motrin) every 8 hours OR 500mg of naprosyn(aleve) twice a day for the pain and inflammation. It's okay to take them while you are taking the hydrocodone, they work in different ways. You may have stretched or torn some ligaments or muscles. Good luck!
