Is a little bit of sucralose ok?

The only thing I eat or drink now that has artificial sweetener is my coffee creamer. In fact, the only things I drink now are two cups of coffee in the morning with sugar free coffee mate (which contians sucralose) and water the rest of the day. Is that little amount ok?

I wrote a blog about artificial sweeteners, if you care. There are people who will tell you they are deadly, but seriously, a little artificial, or non-nutritive sweetener is not dangerous. As with all things, moderation is best.

I try to eliminate everything processed from my diet (especially white flour and sugar). However, I do let myself have up to 3 packets worth of sucralose (Splenda) each day. My reasoning is that I use much less than I would for an equal sweetening power of sugar. I definitely document it, though, as it contains small amounts of both calories and carbs, and can add up on you if you don't pay close attention. I only really use it in coffee, myself, so I really don't think it will derail your plans in such small increments.

Thanks - we are doing the same regarding processed foods. I posted this under both sucralose and splenda and expected to get bombarded with "any amount is bad". Was glad for the reinforcement of what I thought - this little bit won't hurt.
