(geez - I meant a little "bit" not "bet")
The only thing I eat or drink now that has artificial sweetener is my coffee creamer. In fact, the only things I drink now are two cups of coffee in the morning with sugar free coffee mate (which contians Splenda) and water the rest of the day. Is that little amount ok?

Yes, yes it is.0

depends....some people will tell you no..that said.
Are you diabetic? Splenda has the same endocrine response as sugar
Are you trying to be ultra low carb? Splenda counts as a carbohydrate even though it has no calories
If the answers to those are no then go for it...all things in moderation. There are many people that will say no because its manufactured, but I'm not one of them.0 -
Yep I ♥ Splenda0

Not diabetic - not low carb (I don't believe in that). I'm sticking with my coffee creamer!
Thank you!0 -
I had a conversation with my doctor a couple of weeks ago and I asked him of all the sweetners out there, which would would HE buy as a doctor, not for calorie/die reasons but for the whole issue regarding what sweeteners do to our body and he said he would use splenda because it's a "sugar alcohol" and what best resembles actual sugar.0

I use it: about 4 packets a day
Just keep in mind, it DOES have calories, there's no such thing as "NO CALORIE" anything, except water.
The people at Splenda have confirmed that it does have 4 cals per packet and I log it as such.
I got this from the splenda people themselves:
"SPLENDA(R) Granular
1 tsp = 0.5 gm carb = 2 calories
one half cup = 12 gm carb = 48 calories
1 cup = 24 gm carb = 96 calories
*1 tsp. = 1 serving
Packet of SPLENDA(R)
1 packet = .9 gm of carb = 4 calories
*1 packet has the sweetness of 2 tsp of sugar
Note: Per U.S. labeling laws, anything with less than 5 calories per serving, is properly labeled as "zero" or no-calorie.
The caloric and carbohydrate content for sugar is as follows:
Sugar
1 tsp = 4 gm of carb= 16 calories
one half cup = 96 gm of carb= 385 calories
1 cup = 192 gm of carb = 770 calories "
This compares splenda and sugar. Sugar is more natural and therefore "better" for you although it is still highly processed. Splenda is just chemicals but low-cal....
Pick your poison, I guess....
I drink a lot of espresso and like it sweet so I choose to use the splenda and log 4 cals per packet than sugar at 16 cals a tsp...0 -
I use about 3 packets a day. (All in coffee)
(:
I forget to log them, but I'm going to start!0 -
fwiw - the reason want to use sugar free coffee creamer is not the calories - I am trying to stay within my nutrient targets for sugar.0
