Busy Mom of 4 with tender hip joints... just starting out...

I have 4 kids in close succession... a busy life with 3 jobs between my hubby and I, including a cake decorating business (!)... and am sick of the poundage creaping steadily on! I've tried, off and on, to eat less and walk 2-3x/wk, just for starters, but the cold weather here has been getting me down, and I've fallen off the wagon again.... Am hoping to start up walking again this week, and really make true habit changes, instead of short-term gyrations on the bathroom scale! I will consider myself to have "started" on my journey this coming Monday (April 4). Anyone like to join me? :)

All the very best...I too am a mum of 4 but now 2 are married and 2 still at home. I've been up and down and 'food and weight 'obsessed forever - it's good and bad... good because I've never been really over weight but bad because it drives me crasy at times!! Half the 'problem' is being a mum to 4 and hubby is that you have to cook good food and have to feed them..if it was just me I could eat whatever whenever...I too have a bad hip and at 50 have osteoarthritis in my right hip. I think I hurt in after baby no 4 with a tear. Noone believed me until I finally found a Doctor who did and I got it MRI scanned! It has been off and on since (19 years ago) but keeping a good weight and moving I think has helped! All the very best...Heather:smile:
  • Thanks for your encouragement, Heather! There is osteoarthritis in my family, so I am trying to stay fit now so that hopefully it won't set in too early, if at all! :S I am hoping to bring my whole family on the journey with me, so that they see what it is like to eat healthy and reap the benefits, as well. :) I will be doing low impact exercise, mainly walking and gardening. Unfortunately I do a lot of standing, which is hard on the joints but provides no cardio. Have to fix that! ;)
