Hurts like hell.

On Friday I did my first real weight workout, it was a dumbbell only legs and shoulders workout, and today is supposed to be a chest and triceps workout. Problem is I am still extremely sore from the Friday workout. I'm talking getting around like a 90 year old man sore. I want to do the workout, should I though? Or should I wait till the soreness eases. There is supposed to be 2 days rest after the legs and shoulders workout but I want to change the schedule that I do the workouts on to sun, tues, thurs instead of mon, wed, fri.

I messed up my back a few months ago due to exercise and I had no choice but to sit it out for 2 days. I say take it easy until you feel comfortable enough to get back at it.0

Yup! Stretching and doing another workout and using the sore muscles will actually ease the pain... =]0 -
I agree, stretch and go work out. Next time, eat high protein within 1 hour after working out, drink LOTS of water afterwards. It also helps to soak in a warm bath with Epsom salts.
I have been working out really hard lately (with weights), and when I do those things, I have very little to no soreness...which absolutely surprises me!0 -
Stretching and consistency help. Soreness is normal, even for health professionals. I've also had great luck with the P90X Results and Recovery Formula.0

I did a program at the local YMCA that seemed to work great for me, it had me doing lower impact but working everything during each workout, three times a week. The idea is that if your workout is kicking your butt then you need to scale it back, consistency is more important than busting out huge numbers. I obviously do not know your history, if you have worked out in the past or what really works for you. But since you asked in a public forum I figured I would give you my two cents! Cut down the weight to the point where you are not feeling super sore and instead of doing focused workouts try to mix all muscle groups into each visit.0
