Overeating Calories

i tend to always go over my calories on Sunday, and was wondering, would it be a good idea to reduce my calories a little bit each day during the week to accommodate for my Sunday snacking? I've tried to reduce it but Sunday is just the day where I can't seem to regulate eating. I usually go over 200-500 so should I take this from my weekly calorie intake so it all evens out ?

I think that would be good way t save some calories.
Try it and see how it goes.
But don't cut by much, just 10-20 cals each day until sunday.

Maybe excersise extra hard that day so you don't deprive yourself of daily calories. :)
  • i think any form of compensating is a slippery slope back to the cyclic kind of eating/exercise pattern alot of people (read: me and people i know) have.

it avoids the actual issue - that is the issue of overeating! depriving yourself of calroies on other days will just start to set up a feast/famine response in your body - and this is actually counterproductive.

i know its hard - i am struggling with exactly the same issue ... but i think there must be a better way to deal with the overeating.

for me i know it happens at certain weekend family dinners. is that what happens to you?
i think next week i am going to allow myself ONE 'fattening' item from what is on offer, and make an effort to keep the rest of the meal healthy. it is a pain because it will mean special requirements for me as the food is normally pretty fattening, but i am hoping they (friends/family) will understand at the very least, and hopefully even accomodate my needs. Who knows, maybe I can contribute a low-fat course to future meals.
  • Even if calories over the week are only in deficit by 200 for the remaining 6 days? Some people refer to this as a 'spike' day, although i tend to have one every week. Sunday is usually my lazy day, a day I dedicate to no exercise and to just chill out and finish my weeks uni work, but I think I might try to even go for a small walk on these days, as i find when I exercise I'm more motivated to eat well. Thanks everyone for the advice.

I would say the best thing to do is exercise more so you have those extra calories available.

is your program set to a deficit, to lose weight, or is it set to maintainence?

If its set to try and lose 1lb a week, then it will already be giving you a 500 calorie a day deficit, so being 500 cals a day is just going to put you at maintenance for that one day, so i wouldnt worry too much if youre keeping at/under your limit the other days.

I would also consider going for a run or doing a workout on saturday or sunday morning, to give you a bit more leeway
