    Yay for you, that's awesome!
  • I felt exactly the same before I first went! Now I try to go three times a week, I don't even run away if I turn up and the place is heaving, although I do try and avoid times when I know it's going to busy.

Well done you, and yes you are going to hurt tomorrow!! But done let that put you off, make sure you warm up and cool down properly and you shouldn't be too bad!

I was paranoid people would point and laugh at the plump chick when I went to the gym the first time. Now I'm not so plump and I'm sure they have other reasons to point and laugh. Great job and keep up the good work.

That is awesome. I know the courage it took. I also have my first ever visit planned in a few hours. Feeling very aprehensive and embarassed. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Wow, brings back memories. I never went to a gym until I was 33, two years ago. Now I love it! Most people are there for themselves and have all the same insecurities, even if they've been there a long time and don't really worry about what others look like or can or can't do. Remember, it's not how much you do, it's how hard you work. Good luck with your goals and have fun at the gym, pace yourself!

    Oh, almost forgot, nice melons...:flowerforyou:

    well done!!!
  • I very much have those fears. At my work, there is a gym. Right beside my office. I am TERRIFIED of it. I'm so scared that someone will walk in and see me! I am the only woman and I work with 40 men. The gym is rarely used but I can just imagine them coming in JUST to give me HELL. :( Very scared of it. Through my work, I can join a local Rec Center that has a gym, pool, sauna for $3 a year. But I am scared to death! I just wish I could go in there while no one is there to look at what they have and figure out how to use it before actually going in and working out around other people.I would feel much more at ease.

@mum23 You were sooo right! Thank you.

Having never set foot in a gym before, and being so overweight, I was very aprehensive.
The lady was very nice, showed me around and the equipment, had me to run thru a routine, and I stayed & did an hour on the treadmill

It was no where near as bad as I imagined it. Why didn't i do this years ago?
Thanks to our local community biggest winner contest, I have a free 30 day membership. I'm gonna predict on day 31, i'll still be there.
Again thanks for sharing your experience,

    p.s. @thenewjessiemae

You should just go for it. It won't be anywhere near as bad as your mind would like for you to believe
