I used my heart rate monitor for the first time this morning doing 30 minute shred. It read 490 calories for 30 minutes...Does that sound right? I'm 204pds

As long as you have the info set in the HRM correctly, you can pretty much count on the accuracy. Your burn sounds about right to me! Good Job!

thanks y'all...I guess I'm so out of the loop on fitness it seemed high but I do have my HRM set with my zones for my ages etc..so I'll check again and go with it.

You can check out this site:

you put in your age and sex and it will give you general ranges heart rates....I think the most fat burn comes from the Aerobic and Threshold zones. Again they are general numbers...if you are to the point that you can't breathe or talk, you need to back off for a bit.
